Get away from it all in comfort at Nouster                      Availability

Set in an isolated position overlooking a sandy bay. More spacious and luxuriously equipped than Howar Cottage , Nouster is a luxuriously restored Victorian building listed by Historic Scotland as :-

"A substantial laird's house, notable for its size and traditional design, much favoured on the mainland for the construction of manses. Its extra storey is conspicuous on North Ronaldsay."

Although isolated, Nouster is a short walk from the island pier and from the bird observatory with its bar and restaurant.

50 metres from the shore the views over Nouster Bay are generally agreed to be the best on North Ronaldsay.

Wake up in the morning to see seals playing in waves rolling onto a mile of silver sand.

Take an early morning walk along the beach deserted except for the seaweed eating sheep or relax in the large conservatory looking down on the bay and across the sea to Sanday and Westray.

Inside the wrap
around conservatory the living room has a traditional 3-piece suite
, a sofa bed and  a large traditional oak dining suite.

Upstairs the two bedrooms sleep 4/5. Both have spectacular views over the bay. The master bedroom has a double and a single bed, the other has two single beds. Also upstairs is a shower room with toilet and wash basin.

The large kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, separate hob and oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble drier. The kitchen also has a breakfast suite where you can eat with views through the conservatory.

There is also a large bathroom with bath, toilet and hand basin, downstairs.
Central heating throughout.

The back door opens into the original croft byre, which has been renovated retaining the original stone cattle stalls and stone flagged floor.

The byre is available for use as an occasional exhibition gallery.

Nouster is priced by the week at £300 October to April and £340 May to September.

For short stays it's £41 per night October to April and £47 per night May to September. Plus £15 per stay for cleaning, laundry and transport. With breakfast basics, an independent alternative to B&B.

Prices are per house, self catering.  Payment is cash on departure, we have no card facilities.
